Folding cartons are made from paperboard that is printed, laminated, cut, and glued. The carton blank is cut and scored before being folded. Panels include a top panel, bottom panel, and side panels. Fold lines connect each panel, allowing the carton to form its shape. Glue flaps secure the folded panels into a rectangular box. Cartons are shipped flat, then folded into their final shape. Some styles use E-flute or micro-flute corrugated fiberboard. Perforation lines allow easy opening or tearing when needed. They protect products through the supply chain from raw material to shelf.
